Legacy turned high-performant and HMAC-secure
An old legacy-heavy setup was the motivator for a Scandinavian company with global sales activities to modernise their digital presence. They wanted a composable architecture built to scale globally.
They began with a new frontend – a headless Umbraco to separate the presentation layer from the backend system, which consists of two primary sources: The legacy PIM and a new commerce motor.
Decoupled PIM and scalability
Enterspeed was added in between with a two-folded objective: The company needed to decouple their legacy PIM for security reasons, and they wanted to create easy scalability. Decoupling the legacy PIM meant that they could push all data to Enterspeed ensuring that no external traffic had access to the PIM.
High security and authentication through Enterspeed
The company also used Enterspeed to conduct HMAC signing using JavaScript. HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) is a technique used to verify both the data integrity and authenticity of a message.

- PIM/PXM: Salsify
- Commerce: BigCommerce
Today, the company has a modern, composable setup, where they can easily upgrade, change, or add new sources without disturbing the user experience. They also have a secure architecture, where the backend sources aren’t directly accessed through calls.
